I found it!

It is Da Do Ron Ron by Karen Kamon.

Other than this, I don't remember her AT ALL.

When are the makeup styles at the end going to make a comeback?

I've gotten an iPod and have been enjoying it so far. However, I've just had the first potentially embarrassing moment of wearing headphones with the iPod at the gym. I was listening to Hey Bulldog by the Beatles and found myself going "wruff" out loud along with the song. Fortunately, I was walking out at the time and don't think anyone heard me.

I have now made a blueberry pie successfully. I've also made a chocolate pudding pie. I want to make several kinds of chocolate pudding pie for a gathering soon.

On the way in to work this morning, I heard Your Mother Should Know and realized that for most people born in the last 20 years, it could be the song they sing about.
Look at that [livejournal.com profile] hagbardc, if kids today said to their mom what you said to yours, she'd just say "Yes, honey."

Old

Nothing like listening to Bad Connection by Yaz to make you feel old. I'd bet 1/2 the people I know (the young ones) would listen to that song and either think "Phone lines are down? I don't understand the problem, there's a dozen other ways to contact people quickly" before realizing how old the song must be or just "Wow, that's OLD"

I now have an iPhone. Please tell me what apps you think I should get.

Thanks

Truck Music

Em and I went to get iPhones and, no surprise, they didn't have any in stock. As a consolation prize I bought myself an iPod classic. I had a lot of fun for a few days putting music on it and watching 2000+songs not make a dent in the storage available. We used it in the Prius on the way to the parade and that was fun too.

When I bought it, I got a tape adapter so I could use it in the truck. I put it in the tapedeck and it didn't work. Noisely.

I figure I have a few options
1. Take it out and try to fix it myself, it might only be some jammed tape from a broken cassette in there.
2. Since the volume control isn't working well anymore, take it to a place that does repairs and pay at least $157, plus the travel costs to the only place I've found that says they do repairs and doesn't seem to be lying. That's way down in Weymouth.
3. Go to the dealership and see what they say. The antenna isn't working either and I could get them to fix that too.
4. Go to Best Buy, buy a new stereo for a hundred or so with an AUX input jack and return the casette adapter
5. Go to a car audio place and get ripped off.

Part of the problem is that the truck is 13 years old. It is a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder that I bought late October 1997 and since then I've put around 265,000 miles on it. It is currently the vehicle I'm using to commute to work, but that might not be for more than 6 months or so. Heck the truck could conk out at any point at this age and mileage, so...

Opinions? something I've overlooked?

I just watched the video for Holiday by Vampire Weekend. I would LOVE to see teenagers dressing up like this as a way to rebel. Sort of a weird, generational offshoot of the Punk movement.

On Friday I walked home from work. It was a very nice day to do so and I had the company for most of the way of [livejournal.com profile] rayan4d2. I started out at 23 Drydock Ave in Boston and walked to South Station, where I met up with [livejournal.com profile] rayan4d2. That was 1.5 miles. We then walked another 6.7 miles to [livejournal.com profile] rayan4d2's place. I live 3 miles past that, but was too tired to continue. [livejournal.com profile] emilytheslayer was kind enough to come pick me up.

I remembered my hat, my water and to put on sunblock before I left. I did not remember to charge my phone. I was lucky [livejournal.com profile] rayan4d2 saw me standing in front of South Station or that could have become an comedy of errors.

When next we do this, we may just walk to Sunset Grill, 4 miles from South Station and stop for food & beer and have people meet us there for dinner. We may also try to sucker persuade [livejournal.com profile] head58 to join us for the walk. His office is very close to an early part of our route.

Tonight [livejournal.com profile] emilytheslayer and I drove out to Lincoln and, with a lovely lack of ambient light pollution, saw Venus & Mercury!

Mercury isn't frequently easily visible, but we saw it! It was neat.

as I am late in leaving.

Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] emilytheslayer and I went to Wendy's for lunch. While at the drive-thru window, I overheard two younger people trying to explain who someone was to an older, white guy.

"R Kelly? He's... like a young Michael Jackson... who pees on people."

I had a dream last night and it did indeed signify that I'm old. First, it was a rerun. That's not all that surprising I suppose, everyone has recurring dreams now and again. However, this was a little different. As [livejournal.com profile] emilytheslayer put it when I told her about it, my dreams have director's commentary. In my dream, as one of the big events was about to happen, I stopped the dream and said (still in the dream, of course), "OK, what's about to happen here is amazing. This is the scene where Bailey loses her pants."
Then the dream started up again and indeed, that's what happened next.

As many of you know, I tend to celebrate my birthday by feeding as many of my friends as I can. This year I'd like to do something different (though I may try to feed everyone later in the year). For the last 5 or 6 years I've wanted to do this, but by the time I remembered, it was too late. I want to go to a football game! I'd like a bunch of you to come too.

This isn't just any football game, this is the IWFL: Independant Women's Football League. MA has 3 teams and one of them has a home game the day after my birthday. The New England Intensity plays at Hanlon Field in Medway, MA (88 Summer Street Medway, MA 02053). Tickets are only $10!

Unfortunately, there's some conflicting information on their site. They're either playing the Holyoke Hurricanes or the Southern Maine Rebels. Home game either way.

Here's a pic of the team. This is real football, not that "Lingere Football" crap. Who knows, maybe some of you will want to try out...

Those of you who aren't local, check out the site, there's teams all over the country!

OK, I have a few words, like "WHAT?!" and "I defy any of you to be weirder."
