I got to play one of my favorite games of all time over the weekend: Titan! The game was long, but that's 'cause other than me, everyone had to learn the game. Next time it won't take nearly as long. I'm also pleased that I won. : -)

I managed to get some nifty stacks and my Titan got to a 10-4 by the end of the game.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] yendi and [livejournal.com profile] blazepoet and a friend of [livejournal.com profile] yendi who played. I'm looking forward to playing again.

Rock Band 2

Is there somewhere on LJ or somewhere on-line to find out what the new Rock Band songs are as they come out or in advance?

I left the headset for my XBox on the floor and went out. When I came home I discovered that Copper had decided the foam covering for the earpiece was a tasty tret. It is now fairly chewed up. I looked on Amazon for a replacement covering and found nothing. I looked at Radio Shack and the ones they had were all the wrong size.

Anyone have suggestions for where else I should look?

Pete came up! Hooray! And I believe he also made it home again!

We had a day of gaming, thanks to all who came and to [livejournal.com profile] aliwings and [livejournal.com profile] head58 for hosting.

I played Mwahahaha!, Formula De and Wealth of Nations. Also played were Hanging Gardens and some Rock Balancing Game that Pete brought. Also Rock Band in the Basement (where it belongs).

Pete wanted to play Titan, so naturally I couldn't find it.

[livejournal.com profile] head58 grilled for us and that was fine indeed.

Wealth of Nations is quite a good game. It will likely go faster in the future as we now know how to play.

We started the day of gaming at around 3 PM and left at around 3 AM. A solid day indeed.

Sunday morning Pete and I played some Madden 09 on the XBox and then [livejournal.com profile] emilytheslayer and I took him to Wild Willy's for lunch.

Now to get [livejournal.com profile] wizadrru (and family) and [livejournal.com profile] hagbardc (and family) and Pete again up here for the minicon thing this fall.

I've hooked my mother on PBEM Scrabulous. Now she wants to know if there are any other Play By EMail games out there.

Any suggestions?

I think I've been playing too much Scrabulous. Last night I was dreaming words. Sadly, they are new words and won't be in Scrabulous. The one I remember is:

Jate - a person who deals with tea and flags, often in an official capacity.

Also this morning I realized that cats odd behavior can be explained by their biological uniqueness. Cats are the only animal that frequently transition between organic and inorganic matter. This explains why sometimes they are normal and sometimes a silicate. EDIT:(silly cat) (you have to say it out loud for it to work well) (It IS funny) (Honest!)

Video Woes

I believe I need a new video card for my PC. Every time I've tried to play CoH lately, everything is heavily pixillated and after a short time, the program crashes.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what to look for in getting a new card. Can anyone make suggestions for what card I should buy? Or which cards would be worth choosing?

[livejournal.com profile] head58 and [livejournal.com profile] aliwings have graciously agreed to host a gaming day party! My friend Pete is coming up that weekend for a day of gaming, so come one, come all to the gaming extravaganza!

Pete hasn't gotten to play as many games as he'd like recently and he has some free time as his wife and kids are in Japan until the end of the month. There might possibly even be some barbecuing going on! Maybe.

So think about what games you want to play and reply here if you intend to come.

Further details will follow.

The day before yesterday I was playing City of Heroes when my monitor suddenly went black. I checked the PC and I could still hear it running, so it didn't simply turn off. I rebooted (the hard way, holding the power button for 8 seconds) and the monitor came back on and everything was fine for around 3 minutes when the monitor froze. I tried again, same way, and this time the monitor simply said "cannot read digital signal". One more time and got back to the 3 minutes ok, then freeze.

I turned the machine off for the night, thinking it could be overheating, the video card was going bad or the CPU was giving up the ghost. Yesterday I got canned air to clean out the machine and planned to switch to an analog cable to see if the problem was specifically digital. I blew a ton of dust out of the machine and cleared one of the screens on the back that had become completely covered in dust. Then I turned the monitor to gain access to the cables and lo and behold, the monitor cable had partially fallen out...

I'd priced out 2 machines yesterday: A Dell at $2100 and an HP at $1950. Fortunately, I think I won't need to buy either. I pushed the cable back in and everything seems to work fine. I started City of Heroes and was dismayed at the pixillation, but I'll try re-seating the cables on both ends and hope that makes a difference. I'd like to get 1 more year out of this machine. And at least now it is clean!

In a follow-up to yesterday's post about floppy disks, I went through the other box and managed to get rid of 90% of the disks in there. I now only have a few to check (comparatively) and will begin doing so as soon as I find the drive. I have a USB 3/5" external floppy drive, I just don't know where I packed it.

I don't know if you've seen this, but I just saw an ad in Yahoo Mail for a Yahoo Game. It is for Law & Order: Criminal Intent and it has your guy in it!
