In presenting or arguing science, consistency is important. Climate change is an important example of how we want to take anecdotal evidence and use it as proof of a real theory or as an argument against it.

During winter, the climate change deniers frequently trot out the idiocy of "How can there be Global Warming. It is snowing outside!" All this does is illustrate that they don't understand what they're talking about. "Global Warming" or climate change doesn't mean that suddenly everywhere in the world it is a desert or even too warm for snow.

Tempting though it may be, one can not use the recent days of record temperatures to say "Look! Global Warming! I told you so!" as these too are isolated incidents. The truth lies in long-term data trends, world-wide effects and in models that show that some areas might get more snow than normal or more severe weather of all kinds.

But I am human and I do get that impulse from time to time. The best thing is to squash it.

I have no idea why, but I'm in a very good mood today. Lets see if it lasts the day.

I have voted.

I'm a mass of confidence, anxiety, hope and worry.

When I moved to MA, the plan was simple: buy a house at some point. Sooner was better than later and with [livejournal.com profile] aliwings and [livejournal.com profile] head58 was better than without.

Between the crappy housing market putting the kaibosh on part of the plan and the rest of the "plan" driving me a little nuts, I decided to come up with an actual, though still quite flexible, plan.

Since [livejournal.com profile] emilytheslayer graduates in the spring and will then be looking for a job, it doesn't make a ton of sense to move before she gets a job. Not that the job's location will be the largest determnier in where we move, but it would be nice to know before we go.

After that we'll likely move to a larger apartment with Washing Machine, Dishwasher and perhaps Central Air. Certainly the Larger aspect is important. I think I'd prefer something townhouse-like rather than another garden apartment.

We'll also look at foreclosed houses at the same time and if we find something good and inexpensive, we'll buy that. As I don't think this is likely, we'll go the renting route.

If we end up renting, I figure we'll rent for a few years while I continue to save and pay off debt. My car and personal loan are all paid off in 2011. My credit card debt shouldn't last much longer than that. If we do wait to 2011 or 2012 I might even be able to put together a decent down payment.

And if the market gets better, I'd still love to get a 2 family with the aforemetnioned [livejournal.com profile] aliwings and [livejournal.com profile] head58.

So still flexible, but not as urgent and a little more coherant. This should quiet my anxieties nicely.
