Magic Cards

Should I sell mine? All of them or just some? I do have that Phil Foglio land game around somewhere that requires Magic Land cards and I probably couldn't sell those anyway.
I've been keeping them on the theory that we may all want to play again some day and that I wouldn't get much for them anyway.

Date: 2006-01-11 07:44 pm (UTC)I've been adopting a rule lately; if I haven't played it in years, and don't have any real expectation to play it in the next year or so...it needs to go. Magic falls in that list, I just haven't gotten to organizing them for sale...but they WILL be sold.
Getting organized fells REALLY GOOD. This coming from a lifelong packrat. But I came to realize over the last two years that all that stuff that I have REALLY ISN'T IMPORTANT TO ME. It's not a question of financial value, but of perceived value in my life. Sure, I really loved these novels...but when will I EVER read them again, when I have a few dozen books I've had for years but never read?
Add to that the fact that I can get most of the stuff I might want through a place like ebay or elsewhere, and well...I'm just not as attached to stuff.
I'm not saying don't do it...I'm saying do it because you and I both know that the one or two games you MIGHT play in the next five years isn't worth the space it will consume or the stress it will generate from adding to the clutter in your living space. Right now, a corner of my room is reserved for the three huge boxes of magic cards (I'll guess that there are 2500 cards there, maybe...who knows). Room that could be better used for the things I DO use. It's a project for 2006.

Date: 2006-01-11 08:57 pm (UTC)To me, having the books isn't a question of if I'll read them again. Having them and looking through them is a source of enjoyment.
Also, I have a big place, will likely get a bigger one in the next few years and have no wife and child to take up space or money.
