Oscars

So, I heard Jon Stewart sucked. I heard the whole thing was bland and boring and all the wrong movies won. Is this true? I couldn't be bothered to watch it myself, only tuning in for Charleeze Theron's extra-dress-on-her-shoulder and lots of plush penguins. Honestly, that and Dustin Hoffman's stoned performance are all I saw. That and Mr. Stewart looking like he was thinking "Is it over yet?" with his Desperate Housewives crack.

A sports commentator made the suggestion, and I like it, that instead of traditional oscars we change the selection process to a playoff format. I like the idea. They can be seeded by nominating vote strength. You can do an award show every few days that only takes an hour and drag it out for 3 or 4 weeks! And it'd still be more interesting!

Dude, whoah, there's no picturing going on here! Conceptualize, don't visualize! (And yes, because the scales hide the nekedness a little.)

[identity profile] lynxreign.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, right. "Conceptualize". That's what makes it "art". Got it.
I'll follow those instructions when I get home. I should try to think about work while at work.

[identity profile] head58.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, because a thread with 140ish comments by the 3 of us is clearly a sign that we're ALL thinking about work today...

[identity profile] lynxreign.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I said "should".

[identity profile] emilytheslayer.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not at work, you know 'cause I'm online instead of making coffee! I should be doing laundry, and I will, here in a minute. And building furniture.

[identity profile] lynxreign.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, laundry and furniture building. I'd rather be doing that too! What are you building? Why aren't you at school?

[identity profile] emilytheslayer.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Because this week is Spring Break. Spring Break, woo! I have to work later this week or I would be in Florida trying to be part of a Girls With Low Self Esteem video. Or trying to stop it, depending on wether or not they gave me a hat.

[identity profile] lynxreign.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
So which way does a hat make you swing?

[identity profile] crack-city.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd guess it depends on the style of the hat...

[identity profile] lynxreign.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
So one style makes you protest and another makes you join in? Sounds a bit like Alice trying to decide if she should eat or drink...

You have BREASTS, we have HATS!

There's BREAKFAST at the PUB!

[identity profile] lynxreign.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
What's with the breakfast/pub thing?
And what's your stand on hat getting. Getting a hat makes you join in or protest?

[identity profile] head58.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
There were really REALLY gramaticaly nightmarish signs all around the karaoke place announcing that you could come to BREAKFAST at the PUB for BREAKFAST. The drunker [livejournal.com profile] allegedly got, the more she mocked them. Loudly and drunkenly. And put the signs (which we had taken down off the walls) on her breasts. The same signs announced that they were now Wi Fi. The club that is, but we took it to mean her breasts were wi fi as well.

The hat thing is from an Arrested Development episode where they spoofed the Girls Gone Wild videos. One of the better episodes of that season. Zach Braff was the one offering to give out hats to girls who would show their breasts. So I guess, I'm in favor of hats.

(And as an indicator of how my day is going, I read through all 168 of them that were there when I went "Huh...")

[identity profile] lynxreign.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You should comment more! : -)

[identity profile] crack-city.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but with 173+ comments at this point? I'd get lost in the tangle of he-said-she-said-she-said-he-said-she-sells-sea-shells-by-the-sea-shoreness of the whole thing...

[identity profile] lynxreign.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I suppose. Or you can start your own thread by replying to the initial post!

Up unitl you said you read the whole thing I was starting to think I could say whatever I liked and only [livejournal.com profile] head58 or [livejournal.com profile] emilytheslayer would ever know!

[identity profile] crack-city.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
But... the interesting stuff is all buried in the collapsed comments!

I like to keep people on their toes (not tows, or twos, as I initially typed and then corrected myself).

[identity profile] lynxreign.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you could read them a thread at a time and post to them as though each comment was new...

I like to keep people on their twos. I'm not sure what it means, but it seems challenging.

You make it sound like this was my idea! Stop that.

[identity profile] emilytheslayer.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
No! You were the one that brought up blue latex! I didn't know you were going to go imagine it on me! This is clearly not my fault. I stay away from latex paint, even in my imagination.

[identity profile] lynxreign.livejournal.com 2006-03-06 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I see. Clearly a miscommunciation at some point. Possibly where you instructed me to include scales. Then again that was in parenthesis and so inaudible.
Why do you stay away from latex paint in your imagination? I'm sure it has perfectly good uses.

[identity profile] emilytheslayer.livejournal.com 2006-03-07 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, on people like Rebecca Romain, or however you spell her name, but on me? No thanks.

[identity profile] lynxreign.livejournal.com 2006-03-07 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, ok then. Just so I know.
