Oscars

So, I heard Jon Stewart sucked. I heard the whole thing was bland and boring and all the wrong movies won. Is this true? I couldn't be bothered to watch it myself, only tuning in for Charleeze Theron's extra-dress-on-her-shoulder and lots of plush penguins. Honestly, that and Dustin Hoffman's stoned performance are all I saw. That and Mr. Stewart looking like he was thinking "Is it over yet?" with his Desperate Housewives crack.

A sports commentator made the suggestion, and I like it, that instead of traditional oscars we change the selection process to a playoff format. I like the idea. They can be seeded by nominating vote strength. You can do an award show every few days that only takes an hour and drag it out for 3 or 4 weeks! And it'd still be more interesting!

The funniest thing I saw was the one other bit that I saw that I didn't mention above. When a woman who won something (I missed what the award was) thanked the Oscar Lunch committee for seating her next to George Clooney at the lunch. His reaction shot was very amusing.

That was hilarious. Clooney should host the Oscars, he's already pretty much the king of the room wether he wins anything or not. Oh! I switched to E! for a minute after the show, and they had Clooney in the press room, and someone asked him if he could do a gay story, what would it be? And his answer was something along the lines of "another Batman? That would be my gay thing." Beautiful.

He really wants to be a modern Cary Grant. I'm glad someone does.

I mostly like him for his willingness to make fun of himself.

That's one of the key parts.
