I hate to say it, but I'm really disappointed with the new Weezer album. There's nothing that grabs me about any of the songs and it seems they've changed "their sound" for most of the album. The Pork and Beans song that has a video is an anomaly on this album and even it isn't great. It is good, but not at the level I'd have expected from them.
The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived is amusing in its conceit, but again doesn't really grab me. Most of the lyrics seemed an afterthought, taking a back seat to the idea for the music. In older Weezer songs the lyrics were just as important as other aspects of the songs.
Maybe they should have stayed retired.
