Singing

I like to think of myself as a good singer. I know there are other people who enjoy my voice, but I wonder. Am I a good singer or just a really good mimic? When I sing it is usually along with a song and I can hit the notes and intonation accurately, but how would I do on my own? At Karaoke or in Rock Band I sing it exactly like the recording, is that singing or just mimicing?

It's singing! Being an excellent mimic is EXACTLY the goal of "real" singing (by this I mean classically trained) to make the right notes in the right way to achieve a certain type of sound(generally genre dependent and also if you're singing solo or as part of a group). And you are a good singer. :)
