I got some real exercise this weekend and it has shown me that I'm actually more out of shape than I thought.
On Saturday I walked downhill to the Quiznos with
inochinoakari and
cr4ckdr34m and ate a pleasant lunch. We then walked further downhill to the A&P and picked up a few things. Then we walked up the Hill of Doom back to the apartment. Yes, they've depressed the incline at the top of the hill, but that is still a STEEP hill. I was completely out of breath at several points and had to stop for a moment. My heart was pounding like it was an additional form of propulsion. Fortunately, I remembered that we could cut across where the water tank is and avoid the worst part of the slope. Why oh why did I do that walk right after eating?
Sunday we carried the exercise bike up to the spare room. That thing is heavy, but not as bad as I remembered. I also straightened the living room quite a bit to make room for the repairman. He's finally coming in to open the ceiling, fix the pipes and repair the ceiling from where the water has been dripping down. I had to take down all the computer equipment in the corner and move the desk. Moving the desk would either have required moving a cd cabinet, my desk and then that desk or picking the corner desk up over my head and carrying it to the middle of the room. I chose the latter. In retrospect I shouldn't have rested it on my head.
Many thanks to
cr4ckdr34m for assisting me with both the bike carrying and the desk lifting and manuvering.
Still, I'm achy today and would rather be home.
