Shoulda Stood in bed
Dec. 29th, 2005 11:47 amWhen I woke up this morning it was very foggy and rainy. I almost called in to say I was working at home, but I wanted to be here one more day this week in case anyone had problems with the program. I left around on-time, but was later than I wanted to be because of the rain. As I pulled into a gas station, I got pulled over by a policeman. I had NO idea why. He was nice enough to tell me though, I had an expired registration. I could have sworn I'd paid it, but...
So he takes my information and I have the wrong insurance card too. He asked me at least twice "You're sure you have insurance?"
I said yes. I'm so sure I'd bet ..." and cast about for something valuable "... my car on it... which I suppose I am..."
He sort of grinned and said "Yep" while nodding.
So I did have insurance and the insurace company told him they hadn't sent me the card yet, taking the blame for me.
However, he gave me a ticket and told me to go get the car registered Right Now. He then gave me directions to the nearest DMV, in Washington, NJ. I was in Bloomsbury, so I had to backtrack 1/2 hour and go to the DMV. It was $60.50 for registration, cash or check, so then I had to go find an ATM. I didn't get into work until 11. Bleh.
They no longer print the fine amounts on the tickets, you have to call or look it up on-line, so I had no idea how much the fine would be until I got in. $54, which isn't as bad as I'd feared. I can't pay on-line for a week, so I'm mailing it tonight.
