After that productive morning, I went over to [livejournal.com profile] hagbardc's place to play some games. First we played Twilight Struggle: a simulation of the entire Cold War. I played the Soviets. I won! I didn't think I had a chance, but I landed a man on the moon first and put a solid lock on Europe, starting with taking over France. Through influence mind you, there's no invading in this game.

After that, we went out to dinner. [livejournal.com profile] hagbardc remembered we'd never been to Fatburger, so that's where we went. I loved their signs, so I was tempted to go. Sadly, that was one of the worst meals I've ever had. Perhaps the expectation was too high, but the food wasn't quite as good as McDonalds and I won't go to McDonalds any more. I should have known when we ordered the food and I asked for my burger rare and she said "we do all our burgers medium well." Medium Well! Not even Medium! Why brag about how much you like meat, which is what the signs do, if you're just going to ruin it? Sheesh. Fortunately, [livejournal.com profile] inochinoakari and [livejournal.com profile] cr4ckdr34m came over to [livejournal.com profile] hagbardc's after and we asked them to bring us some Wendys (where they were going for dinner) to get the taste out of our mouths. I doubt I'll ever return to Fatburger.

So while we waited for [livejournal.com profile] inochinoakari and [livejournal.com profile] cr4ckdr34m to come over, we played a game about the Roman/Carthaginian Wars (but I don't remember the name of the game). I played the Sarycusians and thought I had no chance after a few turns. Somehow I managed to win though. It was odd.

After the others arrived, we played Pirates Cove and [livejournal.com profile] inochinoakari won. During the final point tally I managed to just pull ahead of her and then she shot past me. This game was unusual because it WASN'T a "learning game"! Finally, we played a card game of strange martial arts and again I somehow managed to win despite thinking I was done in the first few moments. I think everyone else was distracted by each other at that point and never got around to knocking me out until it was too late.

We made a halfhearted attempt to play a racing game, but the rules were convoluded, we'd never played before and it was late, so we called it an evening. I believe a good time was had by all and another expedition to [livejournal.com profile] hagbardc's gaming basement will occur soon.

I should have stayed home and played CoH.

Neither team played well and the Refs seemed to all be Pittsburgh fans.
Plus, I barely knew anyone there, it was loud so I couldn't hear the penalties. Fortunately, I know most of the signals. The food was meh and I had to deal with the moronic homonculous that calls itself my "father". Never again. I want to watch the game so I'll do it at home. I could go on for hours about what a terrible time I had, but I'm not going to. I'm going to put it behind me, write a letter to the editor tomorrow after the sportswriter I like posts his article on Salon and try to forget all about it. Everthing except: Never again.
