I really enjoyed the last time I was in Japan. I'm looking forward to this quite a bit.

I would love to go to Japan on a purely theoretical level. I just fear I'd end up doing even more intensely what I did in Scotland (i.e., hiding in my hotel room when I wasn't with convention people, instead of actually going out and seeing/doing things).

If I get a permanent position here, I may change my mind. But right now... it really looks like I'm not going to make it to Japan. And I don't think I have enough FF miles to cover the trip. *wry smile*

I'm actually staying longer than the convention time because I know the convention doesn't leave time for much outside exploration.
