Today is National Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work day. I currently work for M&M Mars and as I came in this morning, I was greeted by someone in a yellow, peanut M&M costume. This is far too early for such things.

I would have kicked him in the jimmy and run away.

Then I would have run back and taken a big bite out of him.

Then run away again.

Where is the jimmy on a giant peanut M&M? Or does it become pretty much most of the body, target-wise? Ok, now I'm envisioning two M&Ms (the man in padded suit kind) fighting, and it's like a horribly scarring version of Sumo wrestling...

Oh, so Kaiju Big Battel essentially. But with candy?

The suit seems like a lightweight shell, like a hamper.

But then how do the adoring kiddies satisfactorily hug him in their joy of "missing school to annoy the hell out of their parent...I mean...take your kid to work day"? Alas, the poor tots!

I like it, though, it's more, um, realistic. Right, it's more like an actual giant anthropomorphic piece of candy. Realistically unreal, oh fun.

Most of these kids seemed to be from 8 to 15.

ah, so less of the hug-him-yay! age and more of the, well, kick-him-in-the-jimmy-if-he-comes-near-you age. Which doesn't end at 15 by any means.

(I'm definitely making these hyphens work for their money today, whew. Good thing I'm not actually paying them anything...)

Oh, how I want to work for M&M Mars! I bet they give you all sorts of slag, like those little furry doll M&Ms, and stuff like that... not to mention the free candy (which would actually NOT be so good, considering my diet)

But yeah, life-size lime green candy at 8 in the morning is a wee bit over the top...

No, no, it was the yellow one.
And the free candy is indeed bad.

lucky kiddos!

Of the places kids get dragged to this day, M&M Mars has got to be one of the best. Dude. We didn't actually have take your kid to work day, the gov't renamed it to "Day of the Military Child" and threw in a lunch at the Officer's Club. The rest of the day I played around in either the Academic Affairs Division office or the comp labs and offices of the Geography department. Whooptydoo. Actually, it was fun. But I did it a lot in the summer, anyways, so it wasn't so new. No M&Ms, alas. Or guys in costumes. Sigh. Sorry you had to endure early-morning chocolate'n'peanut-y greeting-ness. Ah, hyphens, how I love thy funny ways...
