Once in awhile, on Saturday mornings, I listed to a show on WFMU called Greasy Kid Stuff. They play some of the most demented and wonderful children's music I've ever heard. This is where I first heard Monkey vs. Robot by James Kochalka. I highly recommend it to all my friends with children, you can listen to it right here with older shows available here. If you happen to be up and listening at 11:00 AM ET, they can be heard live from the link on the homepage for WFMU.
I mention this because I was listening to it on the way back from the dump this morning and they played a song I know is dear to
whiskyjack's heart: New Math by Tom Lehr and it occurred to me that while I find the song amusing, it was likely far more amusing to people back when it was written as the "new math" part was just "math" for me. The part that seems odd isn't the part he's making fun of, it is the way people did math before this. Anyone else feel that way?
In other news, I finally got paid today for the week from 2/28-3/4. While I'm happy to have it, it doesn't really change anything about this job.
I was also amused to notice on Yahoo News this morning that Terri Schavo's parents have been arguing with the husband about money he got from a settlement with her doctors and have been for a decade. It is all about them wanting money and I'm not really surprised. I'd bet that had they gotten the tube put back in and taken custody of her like they wanted, the very next thing they'd do is file a lawsuit for that money. Fortunately, they won't get their greedy paws on it. I'm not surprised at all that this is more about money than anything else, it is really what the Right is all about.
