I decided to make hard boiled eggs. One of the sets of instructions I found on-line said to bring the eggs to room temperature before boiling. I set them out for around 40 minutes, put water in the pot and was about to put the eggs into the water when I thought "are they room temperature?" I put my fingers on one to check and *cra-splush* I broke the egg in my hand. Perhaps I need to stop going to the gym. It is a good thing I don't have a kid.

"Aw, honey, do you have a fever? Let me check." *cra-splush* "NOOOoooo! Your head!"

We'll see if I manage to hard boil them correctly.

This just gave me a mental picture of the Hulk trying to handle eggs....

You got it all wrong, the expression is "You can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs", not "You can't make boiled eggs without breaking a few eggs".

Sometimes conventional eggs are really thin-shelled too, because of the conditions under which they are produced. I've had a few break unexpectedly like that. If you switch to free-range eggs, you'll find that their shells are usually thicker. Do you have a farmers market in Waltham?

We do, but it was really just that I squeezed when I shouldn't have.
